Just read through Dec. 2022 and Oct. 2023 versions of chapter 1 with in-document feedback from writer friends & I’m astounded at my growth as a storyteller from then to now. It’s hard to notice your own growth when you’re you every day. But this encourages me to keep going!

✍️ Chapters 18-25 (plus a flashback chapter) successfully outlined for draft 2 today! As I’m getting further along, I’m noticing that more & more chapters can be kept mostly the same as draft 1 (for now) with the caveat of having to cut/combine various characters. Onward!

8 more chapters of draft 2 outlined today! ✍️😅 Can’t wait to actually get into revisions… and I just know I’ll be extremely grateful for those 3 or so chapters that I can pretty much copy and paste from draft 1 and only have to do minor edits on to fit the current canon 🤣
During my trip to Vancouver last year, I scribbled down ideas for about 6 flashback chapters. ✍️ Reading them back as I outline draft 2, it’s amazing seeing the inspiration and how much of this I still love! Now I’m working on placing them where they’ll carry the most weight.
Realize the truth? 🤔 Reading is fun for a lot of people. That’s why I still read as an adult—even more than I did as a student, to be honest. 🤷🏻
the best way to turn a student off of books forever is to try to trick them into thinking that reading is fun. reading is not fun, and if the only reason they are reading is for fun they will stop when they realize the truth.
