An Air Quality Alert is in effect today😶🌫️ This morning the city is reporting unhealthy air quality as well as parts of Nassau County. It's hazy. Suffolk County is reporting "good" to "moderate" air quality.
An Air Quality Alert is in effect for New York this afternoon from wildfire smoke in Canada. You can smell the smoke in New England, and it's starting to drift our way. Expect hazy skies & health impacts to people sensitive to reduced air quality.
You may be noticing hazy skies and a light smell of smoke in the air. This is from smoke that has become trapped in a zone of sinking air in the middle levels of the atmosphere. Our satellite imagery shows the smoke well with the milky white color over New England.
