A prestigious assembly around NewHorizons spacecraft & its scientific journey. 👍👏🤩This event is warming the heart of the fan I am & of all the fans worldwide. 🛰️Go NewHorizons, your journey is far being ended. Soon, you will become an another ambassador of #Humanity to #Space
#otd in 1969 Neil Armstrong became the first person to walk on the moon - perhaps the greatest engineering and science accomplishment in history and the inspiration for me at age 6 to want to grow up to be an astronaut. Congratulations to all the thousands of people who made it…
Phenomenal week last wk at @JHUAPL for a conference reviewing progress made understanding Pluto & all its moons since the 2015 #NASA New Horizons flyby of Pluto, & celebrating the flyby with colleagues & with the mission team. There is no substitute for spacecraft exploration!

That reclassification represents just one view in an ongoing debate. Most planetary scientists reject it in favor of the geophysical planet definition, which categorizes dwarf planets as a subclass of full planets. @AlanStern @DrPhiltill @nasaman58
Thank you for being the one who made NewHorizons happened & having managed the whole team to the discovery of this enigmatic world. An exceptional team that made successful the flybys & made possible to ascertain how living is this wonderful world so far from Sun. #Space
BREAKING NEWS: Our efforts are WORKING to Save NASA Science! This is a huge step!! 🥹 But the work is not over. Thank you to everyone who wrote to your Reps, signed our petition, shared our updates, or spoke to a friend. You are making a difference. Keep contacting Congress,…
Keep informing on this important issue. Allow 'New Horizons' #SpaceMission to keep doing its thing! It's healthy, it's capable, it has fuel... There is more science and potentially a flyby to do! Keep talking to Congress, keep advocating!🚀 And thanks @exploreplanets! @AlanStern
As New Horizons marks its 10-year anniversary of the historic Pluto flyby, it’s a bittersweet milestone. The mission, which made headlines globally now faces the threat of being shut down midflight due to the newly proposed NASA budget cuts. Learn about the Pluto flyby and the…
Ten years ago. What a fantastic mission and memory … still delivering today (and fingers crossed for the future) @AlanStern @JHUAPL
Ten years ago, New Horizons came closer to the surface of Pluto than any spacecraft in history, flying less than 8,000 miles (13,000 km) above the surface. This enhanced-color image was taken when New Horizons was about 280,000 miles (450,000 km) away.

10 years ago NASA's New Horizons spacecraft made its closest approach to Pluto on July 14, 2015. It was the first time a spacecraft had visited Pluto and explored it up close, providing humanity with the first close-up images of this distant world. It was Pluto's moment to shine!

Has it genuinely been that long? I remember following along on the BBC live blog of the event and how thrilling it was to see the first pictures! What an achievement!
By looking at the shifting of stars in photos from the New Horizons probe, astronomers have calculated its position in the galaxy – a technique that could be useful for interstellar missions. newscientist.com/article/248682…
I was watching this live! Who else?? 👏👏👏👏🤩
10 years ago today, Pluto joined the ranks of explored planets--go NASA, Go New horizons!
It’s hard to believe more time has passed since New Horizons flew by Pluto than the time it took from launch to flyby. What an amazing mission. Happy Anniversary @AlanStern 🚀
Ten years ago, we met Pluto like never before. 🌕 On July 14, 2015, New Horizons flew just 7,800 miles from Pluto’s surface after a 3+ billion mile journey. It gave us this iconic view and opened a new era of planetary science. science.nasa.gov/mission/new-ho…
