Adrift in a sea of possibilities.
Guy doesn't care if the candidate is good or not. The only reason he funds that candidate is because he has a larger derivative position that would make money by manipulating the underlying it settles to. That's illegal in every normal financial market for good reason.
Why is this example bad? Guy who wants a candidate to win, and funds that candidate, also bets on that candidate winning?
This is the future, probably. Until we all agree to do something about it. Prediction markets = societal poison.

16/ A. It is now open season on JS. A Schelling point has been established for regulators around the world, and that Schelling point is Jane Street. Regulators have a tough job: so many companies doing so many different kinds of trades, and it's hard to figure out what they are.
From an aesthetic perspective, OpenAI (and others) blatantly *consuming* the IMO as just another eval just feels gross. It's just strip-mining the world one wonderful little subculture at a time. Just like the Ghibli thing.
💯
Astronomer board of directors was so real for making him step down. I get that it was probs due to the optics of cracking the hr lady - but even if she wasn’t in the org, would u really trust a guy whose libido controls him to the point of tanking his public credibility.
People complain about housing prices, but just wait 20 years. Depopulation comes for us all.
