ASYLUM has hit 250 Very Positive reviews on Steam around a month after launch, which apparently is quite a strong metric! Consider we achieved this without a publisher, barely any marketing, not even a Metacritic score — it's all community love 💖 store.steampowered.com/app/230210/ASY…

Anyway, I guess the naughty ASSYLUM spinoff now is out of the question.
The generation jumping on the AI bandwagon for game asset creation will face a similar surprise as those who thought "oh hey, making games in Unity using the asset store is so simple! I can sell this". That reality check will be brutal.
How about creating game assets with Midjourney?

Imagine some corporate group forbidding you to play Cobra Mission or Knights of Xentar in the early 90s.

Amazing game. Weird seal of approval.
Been thinking a lot about Garage Bad Dream Adventure lately. It's full of these crusty, decrepit little creatures with wonderful faces. The texture and proportions of the faces are all so striking. Everything about the art direction is very striking but the faces, especially
But enough lousy news. I'm going to play this new addition to the physical media library that no digital store or payment processor can take away 😊

Oh yeah, and one more thing: This goes to show that the concept of "free market" is a blatant lie. Concentration of capital manipulates the market. But good luck convincing people otherwise.
You might think "well, I don't make sex games, this isn't my problem", but this paves the way to have payments refused for products featuring some "objectionable" content, or any sort of social commentary deemed politically incorrect. The future of entertainment looks fun.

I know I've been a bit subversive or maybe punk lately, but the Steam/itch.io situation illustrates my point: We don't control our business. Others make decisions for us. Not even an "indie friendly" site is a guarantee. There's no more independency. It's the end of indie.
Steam and Itch taking down games they host is a problem for game preservation - and of course, I'm not a fan of people trying to censor what creators can express. This is one of the many reasons Ren'Py is free, and why its license means I can't censor what is made with it. 1/2

Here's a prediction about AI. No crystal ball is needed for this epiphany since it's history repeating, like each time a company hyped a tool to "boost productivity": AI makes everything move faster. AI devaluates work. You will work harder but earn less money.
Look no further, we have you covered! 🧙♂️

AI-invented style my ass. Been handcrafting pixel depth masks forever
Good grief, Scratches keys are selling for 500 bucks. Please don't buy this: probably won't work, and who knows if you get your money back. To me Scratches is abandonware. Get it from archive.org or similar. Embrace and support abandonware, that's my wish as its dev.
