🧵1/8 We’re excited to announce our new @CellReports paper, “Intramuscular adipose tissue restricts functional muscle recovery,” where we defined the functional impact of IMAT on muscle regeneration. tinyurl.com/mpuyadcp
Congratulations to @HorwathOscar (@gihsweden), the winner of our 2024/25 Early Career Author prize! Oscar's winning research article investigated how ageing impacts type I and type II myofibre properties in human muscle!
Casper Soendenbroe (@ISMCopenhagen) et al. discuss enhancing muscle & brain #resilience and examine the role of #prehabilitative exercise in mitigating disuse effects 🏃🧠 📖 Read the #TopicalReview here: buff.ly/u6HP6qI

The stimulus is of course not 100% unique to contraction mode (ECC), but rather what triggers the mechanotransduction response that does not really sound all that new to me, nor is it a point of contention BUT - SSN unequivocally increased with ECC exercise in our studies
Increasing serial sarcomere number (SSN) and thus fascicle length is highly sought after. Eccentric exercise (ECC) is often thought to be the best stimulus. But is this true? In our review, we pore over 150+ years of data to find out if we’re right tinyurl.com/yc5cjvef 🧵1/14
Postdoc Casper @Soendenbroe doing an excellent job presenting now @E_C_S_S in Rimini: FLEXING MUSCLES AND STIMULATING NERVES – THE EFFECTS OF HEAVY RESISTANCE EXERCISE ON MUSCLE INNERVATION💪🙌
Plenary session @E_C_S_S with @mackinprof on Mechanisms of Human Skeletal Muscle Hypertrophy: Sorting the Wheat from the Chaff. Still a lot to learn about the mechanisms of hypertrophy but one thing's for sure: resistance training works💪 #keeplifting
At the @E_C_S_S 2025 meeting in Rimini, Italy, @AbigailMackey1 is in the plenary session, Mechanisms of Human Skeletal Muscle Hypertrophy with her talk “Don’t forget, hypertrophy is not just for the beach - the structural and cellular drivers & facilitators of hypertrophy”

Today we had took advantage of @ChavaunneThorpe’s visit and asked her to present her research on The Diverse Roles of the Interfascicular Matrix in Tendon Health, Ageing and Disease and have a mini discussion meeting with the Tendon Group. Thanks for an insightful visit!
What a day we’ve had! @ann_damgaard defended her PhD investigating the influence of mechanical loading, hormonal changes and tendinopathy on human patellar tendon adaptations spectacularly today! Many thanks to the opponents Prof Andy Carr @UniofOxford and @ChavaunneThorpe 🎉🥳
That concludes Myogenesis GRS 2025! Heartfelt thanks to @GarciaPaulineJ for co-organizing a fantastic meeting. Congratulations to our poster and oral presentation award winners as well as our newly elected 2027 co-chairs! @MyaScheib @LaviCoren

In today’s departmental meeting, @AgergaardAnne gives us a much anticipated update on the TEREX trial looking at the role of restitution time in exercise-based treatment of patellar tendinopathy. She’s also joined forces with @boraxbekk to look at brain connectivity too! 👀
