🚨 Inspirational work led by first author @gabbygilmer! Inducing menopause in aged female mice accelerated knee OA 🐭. More broadly, what are hormone-intact aged female rodents not telling us about mechanisms of human female aging?
Online now! Here the authors investigate knee OA in a menopause mouse model and find that loss of 17β-estradiol and progesterone enhances susceptibility to senescence, extracellular matrix disassembly, and cartilage degradation (rdcu.be/d6Sau) doi.org/10.1038/s43587…
👇🫵 Join us for a trainee-focused celebration of muscle research at the 2025 Myogenesis GRS! This is a great opportunity to network and share your work with fellow rising stars in this field. ✨ If you have questions about applying, please reach out! #myotwitter

Eager to give this a read. Congrats to the team on a fascinating study!
Our last preprint is out!! This work has been made by a crazy team work composed of the new PhD @Erik_Jacques_ and our dearest mentors @LeGrandLab1 and @GilbertLab. No teaser, but if you want to know more about MuSCs communication during muscle repair...👇 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Tune in for a really incredible body of work. The group has learned so much from Gabby’s research. Excited to see the culmination of it all!
Big day coming up soon 👩🏽🔬 If you are free and interested, feel free to log in and check out my work on menopause and the knees! #doubleDoc @PittCMU_MSTP #phddefense
