Research scientist at Amazon. Interested in language models and responsible AI. Studied at @Mila_Quebec during my Ph.D. and interned at Microsoft Research.
I really enjoyed working with Sarath! This is a great opportunity if you are looking for a post-doc :)
In my lab, we have not one but four open postdoc positions! These positions cover developing foundation models for text, proteins, small molecules, genomic data, time series data, and astrophysics data! If you have strong research expertise and a PhD in LLMs and Foundation…
A new paper accepted in @COLM_conf 2025! I led a group of 3 brilliant students to dive deep into the problem of discrimination in language models. We discovered that models that take racist decisions don’t always have biased thoughts!

What's the foundational model for generative chemistry? Our work, BindGPT, is a good candidate, and it will be presented at #AAAI2025 today! We built a simple transformer language model that beats diffusion models by just generating 3D molecules as text! Led by @artemZholus 1/n
Participating and being among the winners of the Speed Science contest at @Mila_Quebec was a great experience for me! I learned how to communicate my research ideas and what other Mila researchers are working on!
Congratulations to the winners of the first Scientific communication contest “Speed Science” that was held yesterday at Mila. 🥇 Dounia Shaaban Kabakibo 🥈 Arna Ghosh (@arna_ghosh) 🥉 Abdelrahman Zayed (@AbdelZayed1) This contest has been designed to highlight Mila’s academic…
In addition to his research, Alex is a great person, and I highly recommend applying :)
I'll be hiring PhD and MSc students for Fall 2025 to do research on machine learning for science (details in 🧵) I especially encourage applicants from under-represented groups and regions in conflict (Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, Myanmar...) See 🧵 for how to apply.
I learned a lot from Sarath and highly recommend anyone looking for good supervision to apply :)
I am recruiting MSc and PhD students for Fall 2025. The application deadline is December 01. Please apply through the @Mila_Quebec supervision request process here: mila.quebec/en/prospective…. More details about the recruitment process here: chandar-lab.github.io/join/
At @ChandarLab, we are happy to announce the second edition of our assistance program to provide feedback for members of communities underrepresented in AI who want to apply to high-profile graduate programs. Want feedback? Details: chandar-lab.github.io/grad-app-help/. Deadline: Nov 15!
Friends! I am looking for PhD and Masters students to join my group for Fall 2025, Please share with students you may know who are interested in the intersection of language, CogSci, and AI! first deadline is Dec 1st, see my page for more info: evaportelance.github.io/prosstudents.h…
With the help of Goncalo Mordido, @SamiraShabanian, and my supervisor @apsarathchandar, I am excited to share that I have an accepted paper in @COLM_conf! We show that attending to wider/narrower contexts improves fairness in language models! Paper📰:arxiv.org/pdf/2305.13088

Our @McGill_NLP postdoc Karolina Stanczak receives outstanding thesis award for her PhD work at @CopeNLU. Well deserved and congratulations! Grateful to have you in the group. 💐💐💐
I am incredibly honored to receive a PhD Award from the UCPH's Faculty of Science! 🤩My PhD journey was an amazing experience that would not have been the same without the unwavering support of my supervisors @IAugenstein and @ryandcotterell!
If you want to know why fairness metrics don’t agree, and how to make them correlate with CAIRO, come to our ACL poster in Bangkok (room A1) on August 12 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm! arxiv.org/abs/2406.05918

Spotlight award at ICML 2024. Introducing a new direction for interpretability: Faithfulness Measurable Models. 2x-5x better explanations, more accurate faithfulness metrics, no cost, and optimal explanations. Paper: arxiv.org/abs/2401.07927. Hall C 4-9, 24 Jul (11:30 - 13:00).
Our ACL main paper explains why fairness metrics don't correlate and proposes CAIRO to make them correlate! Extremely grateful to Gonçalo Mordido, @ioanauoft, and @apsarathchandar! Paper📰:arxiv.org/pdf/2406.05918
