By mandating real-time payments new legislation by @ChrisVanHollen @SenWarren @RepPressley will make it less expensive to be poor, saving Americansn who live paycheck to paycheck billions in overdrafts, payday loans, check cashing, late fees, interest.
What are they getting away with @JoeVogel_? Republicans are winning voters because they are running better campaigns with better messages. I’m a die hard Democrat, but when the party runs to extremes on out of touch/bad messages with subpar candidates, we lose.
I’ll co-sponsor. If GOP lawmakers in Texas move forward with their mid-decade redistricting plan, Democrats in Maryland should draw new districts. MD-01 looking at you. I’m no fan of partisan gerrymandering, but we can’t let them keep getting away with this shit.

Who is the one dead musician you wish you could have seen perform live? Freddy Mercury for me.
Sad to hear that my delegate would attack community lines in Maryland on the basis of what Texas does. Maryland is already grossly gerrymandered. Making that worse is hardly a way to protect democracy.
I'm introducing legislation to redraw Maryland congressional districts if any other state cheats & draws new maps outside of the census period. Seems Trump has convinced Texas, Missouri & others, and FWIW TX did it years ago & got away with it because nobody responded. #mdga26
Credit unions buying banks is a real problem exacerbated by Trump’s @TheNCUA deregulation. I hope @ICBA is as happy as I am that Harper and Otsuka were reinstated by court order from Trump’s illegal firing. A full NCUA Board needs to reign in this practice.
Another billion-dollar credit union acquisition of a community bank (this time in California) underscores the urgent need for policy reform. #SomethingIsWrong icba.org/newsroom/news-…
Great news! Court overturns illegal firings of @TheNCUA Board Members Todd Harper and Tanya Otsuka. @kateberry1 broke court ruling. Note the government admits the logic to being able to fire credit union board members is the same for the Federal Reserve. courtlistener.com/docket/6995158…
The House GOP just proposed blocking the enforcement of something called the "Combating Auto Retail Scams" Rule. Ladies and gentlemen, the party of the working class!
We all want fiscal responsibility. But that won't happen as long as central banks cap yields when they spike, as the Fed did in 2020. You can cap yields, but that inevitably incentivizes bad fiscal policy. Our fiscal mess is inextricably linked to the Fed. robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/fiscal-respo…

Too much partying is hardly the biggest problem facing MoCo.
🚨 BREAKING: MoCo Councilmembers Dawn Luedtke & @andrew_Friedson just announced new legislation cracking down on unlicensed, for-profit house parties. Bill 13-25, passed unanimously, raises fines (now up to $15K) & tightens licensing to address noise, zoning & safety.
An exchange in which the OMB Director admits the Administration is currently impounding federal funding *before* Congress legally rescinds those funds.
I'm not under any illusions that anyone cares much about this but for those who are interested here's transcript of my exchange this morning with White House budget chief Russ Vought: Me So I just checked the DOGE website. They claim $190 billion in savings for the American…
Great article on the failures of public health experts and left wing politicians who locked down schools and made the pandemic worse have given rise to the wrong response of cutting scientific research in @nytimes nytimes.com/2025/07/17/opi…

Donald Trump is following the authoritarian playbook to a T: 1. Get hold of the courts 2. Erode the rule of law That’s why it’s so critical the Senate rejects Bove and Pirro, as I discussed with @AnaCabrera
@CaitlinLong_ Summed up "Operation Chokepoint" on @cnbc today; Fed held the innovators back so the banks could catch up. Interviews like this are why I watch CNBC. I keep it muted 99% of the time until I see someone like Caitlin come on that can really provide insight.
Big news from my investigators on Epstein's sex trafficking operation: the Trump administration has an Epstein file detailing 4,725 wire transfers and almost $1.1 billion flowing through just one of his banks. Hundreds of millions more through others. nytimes.com/2025/07/17/bus…

Uh ok I read this though and it *does* ban digital central bank reserves? Great job guys. Good bill.
hope they don't accidentally ban digital central bank reserves, that could get tricky
After years and years of public consultation and staff work, six Fed governors voted for this rule in 2023. It's indefensible that they all voted to rescind it today. The Fed continues to cower in fear of what courts *might* do instead of litigating to defend good policy.
