Action for the River Kennet (ARK)
@ARKennet
A rivers trust dedicated to protecting and restoring the rivers in the Kennet and Pang catchments
We are supporting #sportfishriversmonth encouraging everyone to do something positive for their river 1 of the ways our volunteers are helping our chalk streams is by riverfly monitoring, hear why our newest monitor has got involved. #citizenscience @sportfishuk @Riverflies
With water levels along our precious chalk streams rapidly dropping, we hope @thameswater rapidly fix the issue at their Axford pumping station, near Marlborough where water is pouring out. This has been reported to the water company by a concerned resident. #riverkennet

Help make space for water! We're a nature-depleted nation & are calling on the UK Government to fund farmers & landowners to #MakeSpaceforWater – restoring river corridors that protect against floods, improve WQ & bring nature back! Please sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7270…

A brilliant amount achieved on the Kennet at Kintbury today by a corporate team from @JamesCowperK, Newbury. Harvesting, then plant stream water-crowfoot. This aquatic plant is a vital part of a healthy chalk stream. Thank you to today's volunteers for supporting us. #chalkstream

Our volunteer water vole surveyors were out in the Pang yesterday with Project Officer James. Sadly no field signs logged. Surveying will continue, although disappointing it's important to get this up to date picture, then look at next steps #citizenscience

It was a pleasure to run #RiverSchool for @OaklandsSEN and share how wonderful the Kennet is with this class; and award an ARK Heto badge to a deserving student too.
Thursday 3rd July was the perfect summer’s day for Willow Class to be in and around The Wilderness in Kintbury, West Berkshire as part of @ARKennet River School. oaklands-school.co.uk/post/willow-ex…
'Best lesson ever!' More great feedback. We returned today to Southcote Primary, Reading for #RiverSchool workshop 2. Engaging children with their rivers is important. We've found that children often know very little about their river & are therefore quite disconnected from it.

🎣 🌡️ Check the Water Temperature! With hot weather pushing water temperatures up, we all need to think about fish welfare — especially for sensitive species like pike. 🌡️ Take a quick temp check before you fish. If the water’s at or above 21°C, please avoid targeting pike. ✅…
