Happy to share latest review which I wrote together with Andrey Parkhitko @Aparhit on how various enzymes from lower organisms can be leveraged to delay aging and age-related diseases. We discuss how genetically encoded tools we and others are developing can be used to target…
We are delighted to confirm the dates of the international conference on H2ases and other redox metalloenzymes, which will take place from 26 to 30 July 2026 at Leicester (UK). The confirmed plenary speakers are already announced on our website👇 le.ac.uk/chemistry/rese…
Great talk by Joe Rebelein yesterday evening at the MoTEC 2025 at long beach! Congratulations to the EMBO young investigator lecture! Much deserved 👍
Excited to be at the Molybdenum Tungsten Enzyme Conference MoTEC on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. Entertaining presentation by Ralf Mendel!
I'm excited to share our new publication in @Nature! We showed that under Ni-limited conditions, similar to those in nature, #methanogens shift electron flow from [NiFe]- to [Fe]-hydrogenase Hmd with the help of a newly discovered protein complex, Elp. nature.com/articles/s4158…
Our large-scale biology article is out in @ThePlantCell! Dig into these rich datasets to see how light-induced stress not only impacts what algae do during the day, but also how it shapes their physiology and gene expression at night. doi.org/10.1093/plcell…

The Dept. of Chemistry at the RPTU is mourning. Due to a tragic accident we lost our dear former (PhD) student Sarah Reeb. She will remain in our memory as an extremely enthousiastic, positive person. We wish her family strength.

Using spectroscopic and structural approaches we gained new insights into the role of #ferredoxins in N2 fixation. Just published in @ChemEurJ: doi.org/10.1002/chem.2…! Great work by @HollyGAddison and fantastic excellent with @AJPierik.
Read Rosales-Hernandez et al. doi.org/10.1038/s44318… and Zerbes/Colina-Tenorio et al. doi.org/10.1038/s44319… to find out about delivery of the Rieske protein after Bcs1 transport to Mar26 and MICOS for bc1 complex assembly.
📢We are thrilled that our Microbes for Climate (M4C) Cluster of Excellence has been selected for the 2025 Excellence Strategy! 🥳 Together with Philipps University Marburg, we're looking forward to some exciting #microbe research! @maxplanckpress @BangeBalcony #synbio #research
Our second paper was published online within the same week 😊! Thanks everyone for their hard work! @ScienceAdvances, @HuRibbe, @UCIBioSci, @UCIChemistry Heterologous synthesis of a simplified nitrogenase analog in Escherichia coli | Science Advances science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
I'm truly excited to announce our new publication in @Nature unraveling a central picture of the Methyl-coenzyme M reductase (MCR) activation machinery and it's strong ATP dependency - kudos to @AnujR2d2 for the fantastic illustration! LINK: nature.com/articles/s4158…
Spoiler, there will soon be a new book on the shelf with focus on #enzymology #enzyme #application #biocatalysis ... stay tuned as more details I will share on short notice 😊
