AS seized Maxaas this morning, a town that had been held by FGS and allied African forces since 2014. In 2024, the Ethiopian troops under ATMIS withdrew and handed it over to FGS forces.

In a joint operation, Puntland Counter-Terrorism forces and reportedly foreign troops (US SOF), captured the financial chief of IS-S, Cabdiweli Maxamed Aw Yusuf (Walac walac). The operation took place in the Laag area of rural Xumbeys in the Iskushuban district.
This morning, AS launched a counterattack in the Sabiid & Caanoole direction. Initial reports indicate that govt positions in the settlement were overrun by the militants.
Despite some claims that govt troops and allied forces have withdrawn (abandoned) Sabiid and Caanoole, other reports emerging today indicate that they are moving towards Bariire instead.
Govt forces and AUSSOM troops have reached the outskirts of Bariire. Clashes are ongoing in the settlement, with Ugandan Mi-24 attack helicopters involved.
