1st-ever podcast appearance! Loved talking with Nick about austerity though it makes me grrrr. You can find the new book we refer to here: payhip.com/b/9eklJ Itβs free if you have no Β£ but any payments will develop our community of Welsh writers, and fund an βunconferenceβ.
Had a great chat about austerity on the podcast with my good friend @5By5Creativity today. You can catch it here: open.acast.com/public/streamsβ¦
Labour Britain: Cardboard sign with a political opinion your Government opposes can mean police raid & arrest. This isnβt democracy, itβs a crackdown on freedom of expression & protest. Such attacks on basic rights are a disturbing sign of how far authoritarianism has taken hold
HOUSES RAIDED Police in South Wales have raided this womanβs house after she held a cardboard sign stating that she opposes genocide outside the BBC Cymru HQ yesterday. She was arrested alongside 12 others at this location, and 70 others across the UK. News of more raids, too.
It was a real pleasure writing this piece for The Observer on how Wales, and their fans, have become the real darlings of Euro 2025. Really pleased to have written this, and a huge thanks to @BethFisherSport and @ffioneluned24! observer.co.uk/news/sport/artβ¦
At a time when we should be reducing our energy consumption (because climate collapse), we choose to massively pour electricity into data centers to power AI slop. How stupid is that?
The AI boom means the worldβs data centers use more electricity than almost every country. See our blog on how to supply the power-hungry technology thatβs driving growth. imf.org/en/Blogs/Articβ¦
The currently spreading new Omicron sub-variant 'XFG,' nicknamed 'Stratus,' exhibits strong immune evasion and has the potential to spread quickly across the globe, although no one cares.

If cutting welfare, privatisation & transferring more wealth to the rich worked then the economy would be booming for everyone! But after 40+ years of doing all that everything has got worse. Only an idiot or a Neoclassical economist would think more of the same is the solution
I enjoy the abundance right's vestigial Thatcherite belief in privatisation and an ultra-centralised state running into the brick wall of pretty much all of our reservoirs being built by local and national government before privatisation, which has clearly failed to do likewise.
The platforming of disinformation grifters in mainstream papers, particularly Telegraph, Express, Daily Mail, GB News and TalkTv is contributing to the increase in vax hesitancy People will die because of shoddy journalism from likes of @Tony_Diver x.com/karamballes/stβ¦
1/ Malhotra was a crank before the pandemic, and then he decided to get aboard the antivax bandwagon, and started chumming up to the likes of RFK Jr and Bhattacharya With those two landing big jobs in the Trump administration, he's spent a lot of time in the US this year
Theyβre doing the concentration camps now. Concentration camps folks. Your silence is a permission slip.
The more time I spend at the twice-weekly market at the foot of the street here in Paris, and local shops like boulangeries, boucheries, etc β and even corporate supermarkets β the more I realise that British food is pretty shite for the most part.

π¨ The EU continues to double down on its rushed, unfair AI copyright law. The finalized Code of Practice, designed to help AI companies comply with the new law, makes it clear that AI companies can train on whatever they want as long as they respect opt-outs. But opt-outs areβ¦
General-purpose AI must be safe and transparent. The Code of Practice is now available. It is designed to help industry comply with the AI Actβs rules on general-purpose AI, which will enter into application on 2 August More info β
Whatβs terrifying about AI is that it replaces living with a simulation of living. Chatbot companions instead of real friends. Degree-holders who never studied and know nothing. In taking the challenge out of life, AI is destroying the very things that made life worth living.
