I'm a big fan of making it a legal requirement for all websites to provide a "Reject All" button for cookies and make it as visually prominent and immediately accessible as "Accept All" buttons already are

Online age verification is like giving your ID to the bartender except the bartender gets to keep an exact copy of your ID for a significant period of time(months, possibly years, maybe even forever) and anybody who breaks into the bar can steal your ID.
ID verification for websites is flawed because when you have to show ID in real life it tends to just involve a person looking at it for 2 seconds with their own eyeballs before it goes right back into your wallet, instead of being scanned and uploaded to god knows where.
Honestly the funniest (and scariest) part about all the age verification systems right now is that it's painfully obvious they were all rushed out the door to make the deadline. You do NOT want that system to handle your personal data.
Twitter has begun blocking videos of Israel’s atrocities in Gaza for users in the UK. Twitter says the censorship is due to the UK’s new Online Safety Act, which mandates age verification for sensitive content. However, Twitter does not allow users to manually verify their age.
People are either accidentally or purposely being ignorant about this and just present it as a porn ban as if this won’t have effects on access to sexual education, historical information or drug harm reduction Hell, we’re already seeing people Palestine stuff get blocked
Everybody is talking about the porn ban but nobody is discussing the literal fact that the government has already extended the censorship to cover multiple SFW hobby spaces, multiple sites discussing quitting smoking/drinking and are actively looking at ways to censor Wikipedia.
Wikipedia becoming blocked would be disastrous for so many reasons—educational, informational, etc. It would make the UK even more of a joke than it already is. All the more reason why the Online Safety Act must be repealed as soon as possible!
Wikipedia is currently in a legal battle with the UK government to try and stop the platform being censored in the UK - or even completely blocked - thanks to the Online Safety Act.
