Personally I like this more than him just being disfigured. Though I also really like how one iteration combined both versions that made it a (relatively) small scar that turned into a disfigurement after Doom freaked out over it and put the mask on before it was done cooling

I believe it's the scale. The promise of what adventure lies ahead in this gif (likely) far exceeds the ability of a real game to deliver on it. It would take either 5 to 10 years or an insane reliance on procedural generation for a game like this to exist. (Daggerfall)
