I suspect the reason it's been field-removed to make it 25 fps is the pretty constant microphony* seen on cameras closest to the stage. But for me, that was fundamentally part of the broadcast. #LiveAid40 * Microphony is seen as coloured lines on vision, caused by loud noise
Yes #LiveAid40 was a enormous engineering feat - you know what impressed me? The fact that they managed to broadcast INTERLACED VIDEO so it was actually 50 fields per second unlike the field removed rubbish that's currently on BBC Two
