This needs framing correctly, please. Asylum seekers can be - and should be! - permitted to work. The benefits they get are very meagre. But it is the employers, who are effectively engaging in a form of modern day slavery, who should be targeted. They have no excuse in law.
Absurd gimmick. Stopping asylum seekers from working pushes people into destitution and forces reliance on meagre welfare payments. Time for a common-sense change to law to allow asylum seekers to work - to support themselves and contribute to the economy telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/07/2…

This is what the "very clever political commentators" don't actually understand. We support Corbyn because he embodies our values. If he returned to the Labour cesspit it would be the clearest example of selling out one could possibly imagine. It was never about the man.
Jeremy Corbyn would actually haemorrhage his own support if he went back to Labour now. Many of his long term supporters (including me) wouldn't follow him back, we've moved on from Labour and we'll never return.
UK state pension or "benefit" would in the commercial life insurance world be called fraud. Less than Slovenia. Normal life insurers unilaterally changing the maturity date of policies would be sued. We've had a 0.19% life expectancy increase from '24. Taking more than the micky!

Exactly this. Leaving school & working at 15, often in dirty & dangerous jobs, but always proud to pay their ‘stamp,’ as explained to them, insurance in the event of sickness & (hopefully) old age. It makes me so angry thinking of friends who didn’t make it. Shame on Kendall.
