You cannot support the right of self-determination for the people of the Cape but not for the people of Palestine, and vice-versa you cannot support the right of self-determination for the people of Palestine but not for the people of the Cape All people have this right
Glad to see that Western Europe is finally taking the Palestinian’s peoples right to self determination seriously.
Civilisation starts with you: Keep a safe following distance, avoid littering, and dispose of cigarette butts in bins. Cross roads at zebra crossings when green. Keep left, including on escalators. These are daily acts of micro-separatism, behave as if you would in an Indy Cape
I think people undervalue bureaucracy's role in successful civilizations Developed countries' bureaucratic systems are far more complex & efficient than SAs, or historically Ming China's vs eg Tribal ppl Bureaucracy isn't bad; it’s more a question of making it more effective
Just came back from a trip to KZN. What struck me was how the entire province (besides Umhlanga and the airport) feels like it’s stuck in the early 2000s
The Cape Replacement Our anonymous guest author compares the replacement policies of the ANC to Israel’s settlement of the West Bank, and calls for solutions thecapeindependent.com/the-cape-repla…
My predictions for SA's future over the remaining 4 years till 2029 elections: 10% GNU major turn around for SA (>2% growth) 15% Some positive changes but largely static (1-2%) 45% Continued gradual decline (<1%) 30% Rapid decline happens after some event (< -0.5%)
It’s not just Trump and the Americans imposing tariffs. Next year the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will come into effect: Goods produced with high carbon emissions will be hit with large fees. SA as one of the worlds dirtiest economies will be hit v. hard
I think the upper house shouldn’t be an elected body but one that represents different segments (corporates) in society. It would be like the House of Lords in the UK, but instead of aristocracy it’s eg representatives of Universities, Companies on segment X, Relgious group Z etc

Honestly it’s getting to the point where the only possible reason someone would still support Israel’s actions is just pure racism
