Someday soon, what’s been obvious to so many of us from the beginning will be understood by everyone: that if a city can be reduced to rubble with its people held captive inside, if they can be starved in full view of the world, everything is permitted, and this threatens us all.

A reminder: framing homelessness as a problem of mental illness or addiction has been politically manufactured to divert attention from its *actual* causes—skyrocketing rents, poverty wages, gutted social supports—and to justify the removal of homeless people from public space.

BREAKING: Donald Trump intends to send the homeless and mentally ill to institutions or concentration camps, thus continuing his perfect imitation of Third Reich policies. He’s taking his personal hell out on everyone else. It will get as dark as we let it.

The goal is to imprison as many of us as possible in their concentration camps in order to force us to do their slave labor they require after firing all of us and forcing us to be unhoused… Which is now illegal

Baltimore has been investing youth programming, including late night programs, summer camps, teen jobs, sports, after school programs, etc. Homicides in the city are down 40%, with steep drops in robberies, carjackings, and shootings. This should be talked about more.

in december 2023 health and aid workers in gaza had to create a new acronym WCNSF (wounded child no surviving family). i thought nothing on earth could be more heartbreaking. that was 18 months ago and those children are being starved to death

Don’t normalize this. Don’t accept this. Don’t let it become routine. Don’t let it fade from headlines. Don’t let it pass without consequence. Don’t let it happen again tomorrow. Don’t grow numb to it. Don’t stand with those who justify it. Don’t stop demanding its end.

This is one of those images you instantly know will appear in history books of the future. And people will wonder how we allowed this to happen.

Do not be surprised when we journalists stop covering news here. I swear by God that today I could not get up from the hunger. There is no food. Even if someone has money, there is nothing in the market to even purchase. We are all starving. We are all dying.
