Postdocs! Please apply to join our lab and work on mathematical/computational projects in cancer evolution and screening. Happy to discuss any details and tell you all about us 🤓 Please RT #mathonco

Apply to our Evo Bio and Eco of Cancer course at Wellcome Genome Campus, UK! It's a great opportunity for trainees and a lot of fun with fabulous teachers. Hope to meet some of your early career folks there in July @mathonco
Working in #CancerBiology? Join us at our expert-led #EBECancer25 course, to discover how insights on the #evolutionary & ecological aspects of #cancer are shaping the future for improved clinical treatments💊 📅30 June-3 July 2025 ⏰Apply by 1 April 📎 bit.ly/3WsZspB
Thank you for having me @CRUKresearch! Nice to be back in London and talking about pre-cancer. All the sessions were packed with exciting research, lots to think and work on #PrevConf25
Immensely rich panel chaired by @lauradelongwood with @jansen_marnix, @yosoykit, Profs Jane & Jones unearthed key future research questions on defining pre-cancer—paving the way for nuanced preventive strategies, mindful of patient & public views on downstream effect #PrevConf25

Our DBMI Division at UCSD is also hiring postdocs on our T15 too! Find info to apply below @UCSDHealth @UCSDCancer Opportunities to work in our lab and others, as well as to grow your skills in our strong training program

Fantastic to see #GUTInTheNews over the last few days regarding the paper by Al-Bakir and @yosoykit et al entitled "Low-coverage whole genome sequencing of low-grade dysplasia strongly predicts advanced neoplasia risk in UC" via bit.ly/4glrg67 Also found on the…
Incomplete human reference genomes can skew sex bias & risk patient privacy in metagenomic data. 💡 Dr. Kathleen Curtius (@yosoykit) & Dr. Rob Knight of MCC highlight its impact on microbiome-cancer research in @NatureComms: bit.ly/3PVfHIf.
Four years ago I wrote my inaugural poem The Hill We Climb. Both when I wrote it and performed it, I did so while continuously reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King’s legacy. I was (and am) blown away by how my words reverberated around the world; if…
Our work on filtering host DNA from WGS data now out in @NatureComms! Congrats to first authors @c_gucci3 and Lucas Patel @KnightLabNews - their methods are freely available to use on your own data 🧬 nature.com/articles/s4146…
How do microbial communities assemble during precancer & cancer evolution? Excited to share our new preprint on modeling of microbial evolution in Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma! 🦠 Led by PhD student Caitlin Guccione biorxiv.org/content/10.110… #barretts #mathonco
I’m more on Bluesky these days but wanted to share here too! PhD student Brian Johnson led our new preprint up on using LLMs for extracting diagnoses in large EHR data - extremely accurate + generalizable for (pre)cancer Dx medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
Highly recommend applying for this for early stage investigators in GI research! @AmerGastroAssn has been amazingly supportive of awardees of various training backgrounds and foster a growing network of junior scientists
Need funding to protect your time for #GIresearch? You can get 💰 $300K over three years with AGA’s Research Scholar Awards like @TrishaPasricha, @yosoykit, @LongNguyen07, @CSTseMD, and @JosephBurclaff. ⏳ Apply by Dec. 4. ow.ly/qGHM50TG3yz
Hi @radychildrens! Is there a timeframe for the gift shop reopening? How can we all help make this happen, if help is needed? It means a lot to our kiddos who are regulars and there is nothing else within walking distance. 🩷
New online! Digital twins are integral to personalizing medicine and improving public health go.nature.com/3zSnRwv
Our article on digital twins is online today in @NatRevGastroHep led by PhD student Brian Johnson! We highlight the broad opportunities for implementing math models and data in the clinic. #mathonco Full text access here: rdcu.be/dWttB nature.com/articles/s4157…
Check out our new preprint showing aneuploidy predicts CRC in IBD-LGD, validated in multicenter cohorts. This was a large team effort and I’m excited to share with you all! medrxiv.org/content/10.110…
Inflammatory bowel disease (#IBD) increases bowel cancer risk: 1/3 of patients with low grade dysplasia (LGD) will get cancer. This risk is very high &reason for treatment. But also major conundrum b/c 2/3 patients with LGD won't get cancer. Can we know who is really at risk? 1/3
That’s a wrap #DDW2024! Inspired and reinvigorated from talks by friends and ideas with GI colleagues. Even snuck in a visit to da Vinci’s Ginevra de’ Benci while in DC ✌️

Love seeing math equations for transformers and more in the AI in GI oncology session 🤓#DDW2024 @dlshung
We’ve been busy in the lab and I’ve been totally slacking on this platform! No pictures from AACR in SD which was AMAZING and now I’m in DC for @DDWMeeting - come hear my talk on math models in GI screening at 9:15am! Looking forward to the week #mathonco
