And although tragedies may shape us, it’s our moments of excitement that we prefer to define us. Because we think that life, when it is filled with happiness, is what living should be all about. But we're myopic in such thinking.
Look at what my people are doing in the year of our Lord 2025.
They took DJ and MC to the New Olamide Badoo Bus stop in Lagos, playing Olamide Songs and warning Conductors about the New name😭😂
Now, let me tell you what happened since the time I told my friends that we really need to hang out. We did not hang out.
Realising that I could use my words to inspire people to feel whatever I want them to feel thoroughly changed how I viewed the gift of writing as a writer.
Grateful for the people in my life who do not waste time on idle talk or gossip. Instead, they speak with depth about ideas, dreams, growth and meaningful ways to grow their lives. Their focus inspires me daily.
I admire people with a sense of humour. You cannot victimise them. Before you laugh at them, they'll assist you to laugh at their own tragedy. They realise, in all fairness, that humour has no grand pious intention. It is just to elicit laughter.
I love how my fingers spread across the keyboard. And I love hitting the space bar too.
Nowadays, I belch in the satisfaction of my peace of mind. I might not have all that I have asked for, but contentment has given me a different version of my life.
I kept on giving pieces of myself away, managing to fit into rooms that were not meant to be squeezed through. I thought I was being the resourceful guy. Turns out, I was just making people learn to be comfortable with my own discomfort.
To quote Roosevelt, it is not the critic that will be remembered. If he likes, he should count how the performer stumbled or where his deeds could've been better. The credit will always belong to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by blood, sweat and dust.
It feels like everything bad that has ever happened to me remained in me. But then, the happy ones quickly jump out after spending a day or two.
