One way to stay cool over the next week. Five straight 💯 degree days coming up for Charlotte! 🥵

24 Hours of Booty kicks off in Myers Park, Charlotte tomorrow! 🚲 It's a special 24 hours of biking and walking to help those who have been diagnosed with cancer. Stay hydrated and don't go too hard-- it's going to be HOT! Small chance of a shower/storm. @24Foundation
We will likely see a few days of heat advisories, if not extreme heat warnings starting this weekend. Take it easy out there. A lot of outdoor events are planned around the Charlotte area on Saturday.

The prolonged heat, along with less thunderstorm coverage is leading to abnormally dry conditions across Upstate SC and into parts of the Charlotte metro. More saturated ground towards Central NC. That is where they have seen an abundant amount of rain this July.

It is rare to have many 100 degree days in a row here in Charlotte, however, it has happened. Back in 1986, we had five 100 degree days in a row. We are forecasting five starting this weekend. Last time we had a longer stretch was back in 2015. Three days of 100 degree heat.

Nope! You are not reading that graphic wrong. Five straight days of 100 degrees or higher is possible for Charlotte. This major stretch of heat will begin on Saturday. While it is rare to have this kind of heat here, it has happened. Charlotte had a 5 day stretch back in 1986.

While we rejoice over the nice break from the humidity today. It will not last long unfortunately. We could even see 100 degree high temperatures this weekend. Be careful at 24 Hours of Booty and the Outlaw Music Festival on Saturday. The humidity will add to the heat as well!

Wow! This is really cool.

June 21st was the last time Charlotte was under 70 degrees. It was 69 degrees that morning. That marks 32 days now that the temperature has been at or above 70 degrees. Longest streak in Charlotte history.

Tuesday: A cooler day ahead! Could be the first time in the 80s for Charlotte in over two weeks. However, it will still be sticky with the humidity. A few pop-up storms will develop for the afternoon too. The lower humidity arrives on Wednesday, with high temps only around 90.

Hurricane season is pretty tame for now. A lot of saharan dust, which is producing dry air and suppressing hurricane development. Higher wind shear is also limiting any storm organization. Prevents updrafts and warm, moist air from rising. Still ahead of schedule this season.

Today marks the 35th day of hitting 90+ degrees in Charlotte. Safe to say we are going to blow the average out of the water considering we have the rest of July, August, September, and October. Latest 90-degree day we have ever seen in Charlotte was October 13th of 1954.

Cooler air is finally on the way for the middle of the week. The lower humidity will come on Wednesday. It won't last long though. The intense summer heat and humidity returns for the upcoming weekend. Enjoy the brief break from it though.

Feeling like 106 degrees in Charlotte this afternoon. Take it easy out there.
