This summer, Battle Creek has received 8.46" more rain than Holland. Stunning, honestly. Once again, the best rain chances Saturday will be south of Grand Rapids.

6:00 pm - Kalamazoo and Battle Creek are receiving extremely heavy rain (likely 1-3" in some areas), which has prompted a flood advisory.

5:19 pm - Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Van Buren county until 6:00 p.m., as a bowing line segment begins to develop. Winds of 60 mph+ are possible.

First severe thunderstorm warning of the day has been issued for parts of Ionia / Eaton / Clinton until 4:45 pm. 60 mph winds the main threat

⚠️ A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for communities south of I-96 until 10 p.m., and damaging winds are the primary threat with any storms that develop.

Here's a look at the week ahead. 🔥 Both the heat and humidity will arrive mid-week and stick around a while, with dew points in the 70s likely through next weekend.

WOW, that was close. 🌪 This footage from our GVSU Allendale camera shows just how close a tornado came to forming. It's in fast motion so the rotation is easier to see. The cloud lowerings are unlikely to have been a touchdown... but it doesn't get much closer than that.

Just saw strong rotation live on-air in Allendale, where low clouds and rotation were clearly visible from our GVSU camera shortly after 5pm. Severe thunderstorm warning is in effect, and we're watching it closely.

Hit & miss showers & t-storms in Southern Lower MI Wednesday w/ lake shadow certainly evident. Amounts to the north were much more impressive. Between Grayling & Gaylord there were reports of over 5" of rain. Fortunately MI missed the severe wx. #wmiwx #miwx
