Hirokazu Kore-eda's 1996 documentary, 'Without Memory' reminded me how the memories of our past shape our idea of self and how uncompromising love holds that mould of us in place even when we forget who we are as there are others who remember you and your life.

why do the words 'undertone' and 'overtone' figuratively imply the same thing but exist as two separate words? i do not know but i think it's splendid of language to be excessive in its qualities rather than too slight. i love you, synonyms. what would writers do without you?
