Milestone for people & our planet with sweeping #ICJ advisory opinion on #ClimateChange! It affirms Govts’ obligations to protect our climate & environment & uphold our human rights. This is a roadmap for #ClimateJustice, remedies for harm & a just transition for all. @CIJ_ICJ

#AI is already reshaping societies. It's up to us whether it’s weaponised to deepen injustice; or used to advance peace & development. To harness its power responsibly & deliver #AI4Good, we need global governance rooted in equity, human rights & the rule of law #AIGovernanceDay

Really insightful @UNHumanRights podcast with @MazzucatoM about the need to put human rights at the core of economies that work for all. Human rights are practical tools for shaping our economies for people & the planet. 📻 Listen to the podcast here ohchr.org/en/stories/202…
What if we reformed economics so that instead of just fixing fixing market failures, we actively shaped our economies to tackle our biggest challenges? Climate. Inequality. Health. We need a new approach. 🎧 @MazzucatoM on mission-driven economics + a #HumanRightsEconomy
Everyone has a right to a stable climate & healthy environment—& Govts have a duty to urgently protect lives & rights. I welcome @IACourtHR's Advisory Opinion affirming Govts’ human rights obligations in the Americas to tackle #climatecrisis—a milestone for the region & beyond.
From education to jobs—local govts can shape more just, sustainable cities As I told local leaders, we must build a #HumanRightsEconomy that puts people 1st in every policy & budget decision Pleased to support govts building human rights cities thru new guidance w/ @uclg_org👇
Ending important visit to #Luxembourg with key discussions on advancing human rights—nationally, through holistic support for victims of violence & amid geopolitical & emerging tech challenges. Deeply grateful for 🇱🇺's support for multilateralism, human rights & dignity for all.

Too many leaders rule through force & fear. #Mandela—like history's great visionaries—led differently: with empathy & compassion He showed that equal rights & treatment don’t divide societies—they make them more just, united & peaceful That’s the kind of leadership we need now

The #ICC was created so the gravest crimes would never go unanswered—so no one would be above the law 27yrs on, that principle—& the int’l system built to uphold it—is under attack On #CriminalJustice Day, I urge Govts to defend #RuleOfLaw & keep justice within reach for all

#HumanRightsEducation is key to building inclusive, peaceful societies. Pleased to sign an MoU between my Office & @gchumanrights to advance human rights through education & shared expertise at global, regional & national levels. A vital investment in youth & future leadership

The spotlight on #WEURO2025 shows how far women’s sport has come—but the field is still far from level Women athletes still face pay gaps, discrimination & abuse We must remove patriarchal barriers—& build a world of sport where women & girls are equally visible, valued & paid
Today, I met with Indigenous Fellows from my Office’s Indigenous Fellowship Programme. We discussed climate justice, corporate accountability & the preservation of Indigenous languages. Their lived experiences & insights are vital to building a more inclusive & sustainable future

Decisions on climate, tech & beyond, need to reflect the wisdom & experience of #Indigenous Peoples. This is essential not only to fulfil their human rights, but also to inspire new models of engagement in harmony with our planet. My remarks today 👇
Hope can be a great motivator – or an empty promise. My own belief is that hope needs to be clear-eyed & grounded in reason. As we navigate today’s challenges, from war to inequality, hope can find a steady anchor in human rights. My remarks to @SymiSymposium ⬇️
Excellent meeting with President @AlarKaris to discuss challenges to international order & multilateralism. Grateful for #Estonia's steadfast advocacy & contributions for equality & justice.

30yrs ago-8,327 Bosnian Muslim men & boys were slaughtered & families decimated in #Srebrenica genocide. Despite judgments by international & domestic courts, denial persists. On this day of deep sorrow, I stand with survivors urging leaders to face the past openly & honestly.
An important and timely visit to #Germany for valuable exchanges with partners from @BMZ_Bund, the Bundestag, @GermanyDiplo, @DEonHumanRights. At this critical time, strong political and financial support for human rights is more crucial than ever.

Intl law is being eroded not just by violations, but by silence and complicity. Amid rising conflict, we need global leadership that defends human rights consistently—in every crisis, for every person. As #HRC59 ends, I urge govts to reflect & act for rights & #RuleOfLaw

The UN Global Risk Report is a stark & urgent read. As global risks intensify, our ability to respond is falling further behind. Now more than ever, we need to protect and promote human rights and renew int’l cooperation grounded in justice & shared responsibility.
The first-ever UN Global Risk Report has been released. Over 1,100 experts offer their insights into the risks most likely to shape our future and assess how prepared the world is to address them. Full report: unglobalriskreport.org
Important meeting with young advocates at the Youth Rights Academy, hosted by my Office with Education Above All @EAA_Foundation. The passion and activism of young leaders is not just inspiring — it is the clearest hope for a just and peaceful world.

20 years after #WSIS—the 1st world summit on digital cooperation—we face critical choices on #AI & data governance Leaders must deliver on their commitments to protect human rights in the digital age Now is the time to work together & build an open & safe digital future for all
