Yes the city owns the shopping center, and the building the store is run out of. Sunfresh is a grocery chain, this one run by Community Builders KC. They have received government funds, like many nonprofit organizations. But it is incorrect to say the city owns the SunFresh.
Question, cause I think the wording in the article is a little confusing compared to what y’all are saying. Is the paragraph below stating the city owns the shopping center but not necessarily the businesses within it (I.e. the grocery store)?
The city contributed money to a non for profit that then ordered the merchandise. If I donate money to a charity I am not then the one making the purchases for that charity.
