Floods are the most common disaster in the United States. If your area is forecast to experience heavy rains, flash floods could follow with little to no warning. During a storm, monitor updates to your area's flood risk and be prepared to evacuate quickly if necessary.
🧰 Every kit counts. Stock yours with essentials: water, food, flashlights, batteries, first aid, and a NOAA weather radio. Be ready before disaster strikes. #EmergencyKit #Preparedness #YavapaiReady #BeReady #YavapaiCounty
We are in the middle of the Atlantic hurricane season! In addition to basic survival supplies, your household emergency kit should include items to address your specific needs. For example, if you take medication, talk to your doctor about how you can create an emergency supply.
Severe thunderstorms are expected in different areas, from the Northern Plains and Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast. When thunder roars, go indoors! No place outside is safe. If you hear thunder, you are likely within striking distance of the storm. More tips ⬇️

Here is a reminder regarding fire safety and smoking from @MassDFS. In addition, cigarettes should never be discarded on the side of the road.
Smoking is the #1 cause of fatal fires in Massachusetts. There's no truly safe way to smoke, but if you must smoke then always use a heavy ashtray with water or sand. And no one should ever smoke in a home where medical oxygen is in use. Learn more: mass.gov/info-details/s…
