Today in 1967 died famous avant-garde 🇺🇦 artist David Burliuk (born 1882). "My color is deeply national. Yellow-hot, green-yellow, red, and blue tones beat Niagaras from under my brush", he said. Big thread about Burliuk and Ukraine 🧵 'Ukrainians', 1912
I love being an art historian. In times, like this, it helps me to "time travel" to other times and cities and feel like I know all these people. For example, today I discovered that Kandynskyi baptized the son of Davyd Burliuk. Burliuk was actually very cool!
Today is the birthday of 🇺🇦 artist David Burliuk. This work was made in 1920 when he was travelling around Japan. This is Japanese woman in rice field. This work posted in Facebook 🇺🇦art historian Diana Klochko. She said it’s a portrait of contemporary women. I can relate!
Happy birthday to the great Ukrainian artist Davyd Burliuk (1882-1967)!

Need your support very much today. Nadia Bilokin, 1929, village Petrykivka.

Today, Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Mykyta died at the age of 95. He was an artist from Mukacheve, Zakarpattia region. He pictured rural life and the landscapes of his native region. Rest in peace.

Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Mykyta and his work 'Potato Harvesters' (1970) and Ecuadorian artist Eduardo Kingman with 'Los Chucchidores' (The Gleaners), (1936). We have more connections with Latin American art than we think.
