We are delighted to hear that a graduate of ours, Jim Reid, has set up a second-hand bookshop in Waterford called Little Lane Bookshop (littlelanebookshop.com) As scholars, we love hoarding books like dragons, in second-hand shops there are treasures lurking in the stacks.
Our school seminar on Thursday will be given by doctoral student at the Dept. Of Folklore & Ethnology, Fiona O’Driscoll. Fiona’s talk is entitled ‘From nature deity to witch: exploring the Cailleach as witch-figure in Gaelic oral tradition’. Fáilte roimh cách - all are welcome.

The Department of Modern Irish, University College Cork, is offering a PhD scholarship to a suitable candidate. The scholarship is worth €26,000, which will cover fees of €5770 with the remainder to be paid in a stipend in monthly instalments.
