🔥 Our favorite constraint at Transforming Basketball 🧠 The "Floor is Lava" constraint creates better spacing by forcing players to escape the paint, encouraging smarter positioning and movement without the ball. 😄 Players love it. Coaches see results. 🔁+❤️ Repost and Like…
🔑Key Transition Principles of Play: 👉Lag free reactions, keep the highway clear, seek the sideline, land like a quarterback, be your own outlet, break-out or kick-ahead, two side spacing, dominoes.
🧠 Are you able to spot the difference between a traditional dynamic warm-up and our game-like alternative? 🤔 We’ll give you one- traditional warm-ups like heel flicks, high knees, and karaoke might get the body moving… But do they actually prepare players for game movement?…
Here the Nash dribble is used a scripted start before the live portion of the SSG begins.
I have seen so many drills using cones and no defense. I have commented on many videos saying add defense and people get attended but then when you watch games there are no translation why… because there are affordances available for the athlete to learn from.
Comment "CLINIC" to watch a free coaching clinic delivered by our founder, Alex Sarama to learn about how to use constraints in practice. Transformative training is about exploration over explanation and allowing players to develop skills in real, game like contexts.

If there's a better passing team at this level, I haven't seen them. @NorthcoastAAU
Constraints aren’t about control, they’re about creating real decisions. Instead of asking players to do more, you can shape the environment so the right actions start to emerge. For example, if you want zero-second decisions, make it a turnover if players hesitate when the…
🚫 Perfect shooting form is a myth. Great shooters all look different, because shooting should adapt to the player, not the other way around. We use differential learning + CLA to build more efficient, game-ready shooters. 👇 Comment shooting to get our full approach.
Beginning a small-sided game with a high-five is an easy way to create an advantage. This can be useful for players to attune to exploring various solutions which convert the advantage. This allows players to develop within the context of a foundational principle of play.
Finishing with no pressure is easy… but that’s not the game. If you really want to get better at scoring around the rim, try this 1v1 smile finishing game. It builds your touch, balance, and body control with real contact instead of clean, scripted reps.
Coaches, not every practice should be high intensity 🔋 Adding 1–2 low stress days per week can reduce injury risk and support long-term development. Use shorter sessions, more shooting, and low-load small-sided games to help players recover while still improving 🏀 🔁+❤️…
If your players are still doing straight-line passing drills… you might be training them to lose the ball under pressure. 😬 Yes it may look clean. But when does a game ever give you that much time and space? In real basketball, passing is messy. Angles shift. Defenders jump…

No surprise to the coaches in our community, but this stuff really works! x.com/transformbball…

Some of the best sessions happen when you throw the script out the window. You still show up with a goal but instead of running Drill A then Drill B, you watch what your players actually need… and adjust on the fly. Start with a small-sided game, see where they struggle, and…
🏀 Transforming Community Meet-Up at the Men’s Final Four 🚀 Awesome to have coaches present from the NBA, NBL, x4 NCAA D1 programs AND High School. 👉 Skill acquisition ideas will only keep growing in popularity over the upcoming years!
Which one builds adaptable dribblers and defenders? Comment “SSG” for more games like this to improve both dribbling and defending with real transfers to the game. At first glance, these two drills might look the same…But there’s a key difference that changes everything. In…
Comment “SSG” and we’ll DM you 20 small sided games that you can use and become more familiar with the constraint led approach. 3-on-3 Closeout trains players to defend under pressure, rotate effectively, and recover from closeouts in game-like situations. This game develops…
