I get why the CID and building owners think this way, but making the parking cheaper won't help in the long run. Their map shows hundreds of parking spots. Consolidate those into a few garages, and build more residential. Money will come from locals walking to/from places.
In wake of closures, West Midtown #ATL leaders aim to make parking easier. 🤔atlanta.urbanize.city/post/west-midt…
I caught a @MARTAtransit Red Line train last night 11:30pm from North Ave. First time in years I've been able to take a Red Line that late, and I hope MARTA continues to keep it in full service every day. Same for the Green Line! Full extent service every day at all hours.
I always take @MARTAtransit in, but that's not an option for everyone just based on where the trains are. Long term expansion of the heavy rail network in all directions would provide a viable alternative to parking.

Please sign this @AbundantHousATL petition against the current draft of Atlanta Tree Protection Ordinance! It adds too many burdens to new housing construction, and it makes it less likely for parking lots to be developed if there are trees in the lot. actionnetwork.org/letters/dont-l…
The "male lonliness epidemic" would be fixed by high speed rail. Then we could visit our homies who live in far away cities. And everyone knows that real men love trains.
This could lead to more bad barbers and more failed small businesses... BUT THAT'S FINE. Because we could also get a lot more brilliant barbers and thriving businesses. Let's let a million flowers be planted and see which flourish.
Do you think it is bad that you can get a new barber license in the same day, instead of waiting 12? That it takes 3 days to get a business license instead of 8 weeks? Not the biggest deals in the world but it all adds up
For mass transit to work you need density and the Eastside trail has a 15-year head start on mixed-use density compared to the Southside. Seriously, our Mayor needs to stay in his lane and let true transportation planners decide the phasing!!! City commits to Beltline rail on…
Atlanta currently allows up to 6 unrelated individuals to live together, but a new proposal reduces that to only 3 unrelated individuals to live together. Please let Council know you disapprove! They're the final decision makers. via @AbundantHousATL: actionnetwork.org/letters/say-no…
I sent in a supportive comment for the cycle track and roae diet, and asked that real concrete protection is used. Ideally jersey barriers or something of similar height.
Send comments to GDOT by February 25th to support a proposed 2-way bike track (plus pedestrian-safety improvements) on 14th Street, from Northside Drive to West Peachtree!! Info: …rovements-m006685-gdot.hub.arcgis.com Comment: …rovements-m006685-gdot.hub.arcgis.com/feedback/surve…
Decatur-Midtown Station trip. 4 minute wait at Decatur. Missed a North Red by 1 min at Five Points. North Gold came by the time I was down the stairs. Another Red was on its way in 2 minutes. This is the kind of experience we need all the time @MARTAtransit. Thanks for tonight.

I'll be a moderator for this, and we'll be asking about transit, sidewalks, and zoning reform to address housing needs.

Taking Amtrak from Atlanta to New Orleans today. It's a comfortable journey with sights of small towns, forests, and rivers over 13 hours. We *need* faster and more frequent trains. It would connect our nation more, and give people options other than driving or flying.
Went to Chastain Park for a concert last night, and took @MARTAtransit to/from. Pleasant 1.3 mi walk from the bus stop with safe streets, sidewalks, and a @PATHFoundation trail. Kinda weird that there's no bus closer to the park, tho. We should fix that in the redesign.
Bars I'm a regular at often let me in without being carded, comp me a drink or two, and the staff and I have good conversations throughout the night. It's made of parasocial and/or weak bond relationships, but it's still a really nice addition to a night out.

I frequently bar hop using transit. It's a much safer way of getting around than driving, and far cheaper than rideshares. Getting a lot more people of all kinds on transit would drown out the "troublesome" individuals by making them exceptions to social rules.
