Flipping brilliant. Lionesses as bad for my blood pressure as the blokes, but so wonderful to win. 🥇 🏴
Scrapping Ofwat is a good first step. But we need a tough, new regulator. Whether it is sky-high bills or the destruction of our natural environment, it’s time these failing water companies were held properly to account.
Michelle Agyemang wears her medal and shares her faith - treasure round her neck, lasting treasure in heaven. Top job Michelle!
I had a busy day yesterday, including a visit to Holker Hall to catch up with the wonderful Bob Sutcliffe and to view his collection of artwork relating to ten inspirational Cumbrians. Later on, we had a really positive time on the doorsteps in Burton.

I’m delighted to support my inspirational friend @JoshBabarinde to be our next Party President…

The Liberal Democrats must be the first and last line of defence against the populism infecting our politics. We need to be ready to fight for the soul of our country. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗜’𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁. Get…
We are constantly told that the Government is spending huge amounts of money on the NHS. And yet in South Cumbria, our local ICB is having to make £142m worth of cuts. Meanwhile we are seeing ward closures in Kendal, Barrow and Lancaster. My question to the Health Secretary👇
The Government has accepted Liberal Democrat calls to scrap Ofwat and replace it with a tougher regulator. But even the best regulator in the world will fail to end the sewage scandal unless we fundamentally reform water companies so that the environment is put before profit.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of 300 children, who survived the Nazi death camps, making a new life for themselves in Windermere. We are campaigning to build a lasting memorial to them alongside a rebuilt Lakes School - where they lived. My question today in Parliament👇
At last, the Government has listened to the Liberal Democrats. Since November 2022, we have been calling for Ofwat to be scrapped. If the Government do not commit to this, it would be a dereliction of their duty and a betrayal of millions of customers across the country.
Liberal Democrats have been leading the fight to scrap Ofwat and replace it with a tougher regulator that will take action against polluters. Today, the Government appears to have finally listened. We will be holding their feet to the fire to ensure these promises are delivered

For years the Conservatives and Labour sneered at us for raising the sewage scandal. Now finally the government is acting. This is a victory for all those local communities who said enough is enough - but if Labour think it is job done they have got another think coming.
Sewage in our waterways is a disgusting sign of a broken system. Today’s report backs what we’ve always said: we need to scrap and replace Ofwat and finally hold these water companies to account.
'It is a broken industry where very powerful people have run rings around the regulators and effectively stuck two fingers up at the British people,' says @timfarron MP. A major report into the water industry has been published. trib.al/a4wtzxy 📺 Sky 501
This is such sad news. David was a kind, wise man whose advice was always offered gently…and always seemed to turn out to be accurate! Much love to his family. ❤️
Deeply saddened to hear of the death of David Alliance. A businessman who did so much for the textile industry in Manchester and beyond, I also hugely appreciated his long relationship with the Liberal Democrats. Condolences to Homa, his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
At last, the Government has listened to the Liberal Democrats. Since 2022, we have been calling for Ofwat to be scrapped. But ministers must not stop here, and we will continue to hold them accountable. Britain now needs a new, effective regulator, to stop the sewage scandal.
