Folks (part 2): I’m joining The Boston Globe as the Red Sox beat writer, beginning in early June. It’s a special job in a special city, so I’m pumped to be back in New England!

Patrick Sandoval has stopped throwing bullpen sessions and is just playing catch, said Alex Cora, who acknowledged that Sandoval is running out of time to pitch this season.
Ceddanne Rafaela will play more second base with Marcelo Mayer out indefinitely, Alex Cora said.

Marcelo Mayer said he is talking to doctors more today and doesn’t know yet how severe of a sprain he has. He called it “brutal” timing and “super annoying” after injuries in past years.
Official: Marcelo Mayer is on the IL with a right wrist sprain, the Red Sox say. No word on severity. David Hamilton is back from Triple-A Worcester.
