Red Sox beat writer for @BostonGlobe. BU alum. I’m not yelling, that’s just how I talk.
Folks (part 2): I’m joining The Boston Globe as the Red Sox beat writer, beginning in early June. It’s a special job in a special city, so I’m pumped to be back in New England!
Folks: This is my last week-plus covering the Mets and with Newsday. It’s been a hell of an eventful seven-plus years — more like 23 in Mets years? — around a team that always keeps it interesting. And I’m going to miss it and you all quite a bit!

"Overall, yeah, they won the game, but it wasn’t bad, to be honest." The Red Sox lost another game to another team among baseball's best: bostonglobe.com/2025/07/25/spo…
Red Sox return home and fall short against Dodgers trib.al/9bErOiu
FINAL: Dodgers 5, Red Sox 2. Rob Refsnyder, representing the potential tying run, grounded out. The Red Sox are 2-5 since the All-Star break.
Dodgers at the start of the game: BC's Emmet Sheehan. Dodgers at the end of the game: UConn's Ben Casparius.
Brayan Bello's final line against the Dodgers: 5 1/3 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. This is the first time since May 28 that Bello lasted less than six innings in a story. He had gone eight in a row meeting that minimum.
With the trade deadline a week away, the Red Sox’ wish list keeps growing trib.al/wnpMkAP
Connor Wong siren: He has his first extra-base hit of the season. Dodgers 3, Red Sox 0, bottom 3
Watching Shohei Ohtani step to the plate doesn't hit the same when Michael Buble isn't playing.
Shohei Ohtani walking up to a Michael Buble song is amazing. No notes.
Brayan Bello is working with catcher Connor Wong tonight for a 10th consecutive start. "I just like it," Alex Cora said. "One day Carlos [Narvaez] was very emotional with Bello. I was like, we need to split up the Latino guys."
John Henry is here, meeting with the Red Sox’ top draft picks.

Is surgery being considered for Marcelo Mayer? “We’re gathering information,” Alex Cora said. “We’ll get more over the weekend, during the week. Whenever we get to the point to see what’s going to happen, we’ll let you know.”
Patrick Sandoval has stopped throwing bullpen sessions and is just playing catch, said Alex Cora, who acknowledged that Sandoval is running out of time to pitch this season.
Ceddanne Rafaela will play more second base with Marcelo Mayer out indefinitely, Alex Cora said.
Red Sox place Marcelo Mayer on 10-day injured list with right wrist sprain trib.al/uCUN3kU
With the deadline less than a week away, who are the Red Sox’ trade chips in the minor leagues? trib.al/kSVosVe
Marcelo Mayer said he is talking to doctors more today and doesn’t know yet how severe of a sprain he has. He called it “brutal” timing and “super annoying” after injuries in past years.
Official: Marcelo Mayer is on the IL with a right wrist sprain, the Red Sox say. No word on severity. David Hamilton is back from Triple-A Worcester.
