My liberal friends think I’m too conservative and my conservative friends think I’m too liberal. I’m just happy to have friends.
My friend Liz got us tickets to a taping of Late Night with David Letterman in October of 1991. Dave’s guest (one of his favorites): the lovely and talented Teri Garr.

At least this afternoon, Declan Rice is the best footballer on the planet.
I moved to New Hampshire four months ago. At six AM today, I saw a moose standing outside my front door. My dog barked and the moose, likely a juvenile, ran away. Next time I hope to have my camera.
Years ago I was working construction in a gated community on the Cape. A man, a famous hockey player, would bring his little boy to our job site; the boy loved the trucks and crane and noise. He was adorable. Here is that boy last night two seconds into beating team Canada.

I heard owls outside my home last night, which reminds me of a quote from Ed Abbey’s Fire on the Mountain: “I too want to be a long-winged, evil-minded predatory bird.”
I just finished the best @StephenKing novel I’ve read in years. An entertaining thriller but with unexpected insights into the craft of writing and overcoming trauma.

I’m moving and going through some boxes….fitting to find a cartoon sticker of @GlennDOrdway in a bin full of sporting goods. The 2009 Whineys were one of my favorites cuz I knew I wasn’t winning that night—just drinking and laughing. Always a great party.

Sad to wake up to the news of Fernando Valenzuela’s passing. Fernandomania was one of my earliest sports memories.
In a post iPod world, I miss album rock. Just listened to the entire album Aqualung. First time in a long time. I forgot that Jethro Tull sounds like Black Sabbath played a Renaissance Faire.
A few weeks ago, @PaulaEbben said, “You’re ruining our summah!” on the morning news, which I’m fairly sure was a 20 year old reference to @GlennDOrdway and his Big Show. Now she’s cut off the sleeves of her blazer, Belichick-style. Who’s the biggest sports fan on Boston news?

Tornado warnings are ruining my ability to watch the semifinals of the European Championship.

This red-tailed hawk is apparently a big lacrosse fan. Must be waiting for the game to start.

At the Westborough reservoir, this Great Blue Heron pulled a dead mouse out of the newly cut grass, washed it, and gulped it down.

As you settle in to watch seven hours of football today, remember that in a few years these games will be behind a paywall. Just kidding. They’ll be behind TWO paywalls.
Bailey Zappe’s Fox NFL graphic looks like the banjo player from Deliverance.
