Spinozist Summer grindset
On the 26st of July we shall convene to discuss Spinoza's ETHICS (ordine geometrico demonstrata). 'Free of metaphor and myth, he grinds a stubborn crystal: the infinite map of the One who is all His stars.' —Borges, 'Spinoza' (tr. R. Howard & C. Rennert) editor @…
Me and Ed recorded the intro to new Pseudcast V 2.0 series: Laying the Machinery of Detection Bare: A History of Literary Forgery 1760-1830. This will be a five part series on Macpherson, Chatterton, Ireland, Collier, and Wise. This will be a big series patreon.com/posts/laying-m…
What if I adopted the desperate-for-VC tone of xeeting? What if I opted for excruciatingly slow sentence-wise disclosure? Here's what I learnt building my one-man SaaSlop app. So many users forgot to cancel their trial subscription I earnt millions. Then it all went wrong.

Abstract spatial orders according to Cassirer's metaphysics of symbolic forms: - *Below* the level of things (mythic space) - the transcendental - *At* the level of things (representational space) - the empirical - *Beyond* the level of things (significative space) - the…

Because in math abstractions let you circumvent/avoid fine-grained computation on specific values. With programming languages you still ultimately have to run all the instructions implied by your abstractions.
The most annoying thing is that abstractions in math actually reduce complexity. Software Engineers are being absolutely delusional when they use the word "abstraction".
"Anthropomorphisation" is still rather preciously treated as a category error. This itself is a mistake—it is the very form of teleological judgement. We imagine things beyond ourselves to have purposes/ends in order that we can cognise their means (see Kant on intrinsic physical…
Can't agree with the direct application of the transcendental philosophy of the subject to LLMs. The transcendental is precisely subrepresentational and presymbolic (it is the very possibility of symbolisation). The autonomisation of vast tracts of compressed subjective cognitive…
