This is the right way, morally and strategically, to approach the conflict. Much respect.
My parents were murdered on October 7th, and if anyone is slapping us in the face, it's people like you, who for the past 20 years have failed to prevent violence and bloodshed in Israel-Palestine, whilst making inflammatory remarks. Your administration could stop the war…
It was great to appear on Eye for Iran, the @IranIntl_En podcast, to talk to @NegarMojtahedi about recent Middle East developments: Israeli strikes in Syria, how Iran will try to rebuild its influence in Syria, & Iran's geopolitical losses since 2024: youtube.com/watch?v=ns8sFo…
You used to respect my opinion? oh no
You’re ridiculous. This rewards terrorism. The Palestinian Authority continues to promote and reward violence against Israel, and has never honestly accepted Israel’s existence. I used to respect your opinion but you now seem either tremendously naive or ideologically captured.
@thomasjuneau is right in this assessment.
The vast majority of arguments against Canada recognizing a Palestinian state make no sense (no, it won't "reward terrorism", to the contrary). But realistically, the best argument against is it would anger the US, when we badly need to focus our foreign policy on managing Trump
Israel’s strikes on Damascus may backfire — by opening the door for Iran’s return. “To actively work against the creation of a new Syria, where there is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity now... this could easily fall back against Israel itself,” said @thomasjuneau, “The more…
Israel’s attacks on Damascus may unintentionally clear a path for its arch-foe Iran to regain influence in war-torn Syria, warns @thomasjuneau, a @uOttawa professor, on this week's episode of Eye for Iran podcast. 📺 Watch youtube.com/watch?v=ns8sFo… 📰Read iranintl.com/en/202507248935

"I am not surprised by the fact that the Houthis have renewed their attacks in the Red Sea…It was only a matter of time before they did," Thomas Juneau, an associate fellow at Chatham House and professor at the University of Ottawa. dawnmena.org/yemens-future-…
No, I don't agree with rewarding Hamas. I want Hamas marginalized as much as possible as a necesssary step towards peace for both poeples. The only way to get there is to strengthen the Palestinian Authority - as flawed as it is, it remains the only viable alternative.
Macron’s lesson to the world’s terrorists: Murder, rape, torture, dismember and kidnap civilians and then when the victims dare to fight back and try to retrieve the hostages, Macron will reward you with your own state. And Thomas Juneau agrees with this reward.
Excited to share that my next book, “Money for Mayhem: how finance fuels terrorism — and how to stop it”, is under contract with University of Toronto Press and will be out in 2026 :)
Working towards the establishment of a Palestinian state, co-existing alongside Israel, would be the best way to marginalize Hamas and ensure Israel's security.
Hey @thomasjuneau, recognizing a Palestinian state at this moment would not benefit peace, but it WOULD be an explicit signal to terrorists that terrorism works. You NEVER reward terrorism. This isn't the way towards long lasting peace.
Canada and other allies should also recognize Palestinian statehood. It would only be a small step towards peace, but it would boost the Palestinian Authority & help build momentum for the two-state solution. France Will Recognize Palestinian Statehood nytimes.com/2025/07/24/wor…
"it is plausible that a chastened Iran will double down on its support now that the Houthis have emerged as its most powerful non-state partner... If anything, Tehran needs the Houthis more than ever before."
What does a weakened Iran mean for its relations with the Houthis? My new piece for the @SanaaCenter: sanaacenter.org/the-yemen-revi…
The #Houthis recent attacks on 2 civilian ships in the #RedSea, killing + injuring several crew members, amount to war crimes, and are posing major environmental risks. The ships weren't military targets, and had no connection to Israel. One carried aid. hrw.org/news/2025/07/2…
Analysis: @thomasjuneau explores how Iran, despite suffering significant losses during the 12-day war with Israel, could sustain – and possibly deepen – its support for the Houthis, now its strongest regional partner. More: sanaacenter.org/the-yemen-revi…
