Growing up David Gemmell was one of my favourite authors. He remains so to this day, and was one of the inspirations for my becoming a writer. So, it was a wonderful and surreal honour to be asked by @orbitbooks to provide a foreword for the 40th Anniversary Edition of Legend.

A wonderful tale, using a murder-mystery scenario to great effect set within a well-drawn fantastical world. The characters shone for me. I came to care about them and felt immersed in their journey. When a book makes me feel, it's a win for me. This book made me feel.
