Let's talk about Kid Pix and what it means to me. Kid Pix was a bitmap drawing software for children by Craig Hickman, released by Brøderbund for home use in 1991. When I got it as a gift at the end of 1992, it began my life's journey of making art with computers.

The strength of our tools has invalidated technique as a marker of quality. The tools are smarter, better, faster, than the craftsman can ever be. The goal, then, is to make something so singular in its voice that you see it and think, "only that person could have made that."
