News from the Rubin Lab 🧬🧫 We conduct DNA-level editing of microbial communities for understanding and control. Posts now on Bl🔬esky. @igisci @UCBerkeley
The Rubin Lab is moving our posts to Bl🔬esky--catch us there at the same handle! 👋
The first Rubin-@thecresslab holiday cookie swap!!! 🍪🎄🎅 Two labs of talented scientists and even more talented bakers 🤓

The Rubin Lab had an amazing time at Inside @igisci Climate 2024 earlier this month! 🌎✨ Big shoutout to @Amanda_T_Alker, @arora_jigyasa, and Bingliang for their fantastic posters!

Paraphrasing Gandhi: "Be the edit you want to see in the world." An actionable path to vigorous expansion of CRISPR cures in the next 5 years exists and is being actively pursued - eg by @somaticediting and @igisci x @DanaherCorp. Read below (it's free). 🙏 @CRISPRjournal.
We are indebted to @UrnovFyodor for this indispensable 6,000-word guest editorial in the latest issue of The @CRISPRjournal : "Give Cas a Chance: An Actionable Path to a Platform for CRISPR Cures." (The article is freely available for 2024.) liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/cr…
We’re excited to welcome two new undergraduates to our lab: Lucas and Julianne! They’ve jumped right in and are already hard at work.🏋️

The biochemist Jennifer Doudna—who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, in 2020—reveals a few books that she thinks best equip one to understand the promise and potential peril of the gene-editing revolution. nyer.cm/qtzWnvI
Happy Postdoc Appreciation Week! 🎉 Shoutout to our fantastic postdoc Jaymin and our incredible staff scientist Agnès (our honorary postdoc because she’s that amazing—and we couldn’t agree more!).
Stoked to introduce our collaboration with @therubinlab and @Dr__Diamond to revolutionize microbiome gene editing! ✨
Huge congrats to @Amanda_T_Alker and @LeoCTSong! So excited about the awesome collaboration between the Rubin and Cress Lab. Love seeing our fellow researchers shine! 🎉 Cheers @therubinlab 🥂
Happy National Postdoc Appreciation Week! 🎉🔬✨ We're celebrating our brilliant postdocs @Amanda_T_Alker, @lindseympieper, @JNVMartinson, Bingliang Xie, and (soon) Kuang Hu who help make this lab the amazing place it is! #NPAW2024 #ShoutOutYourPostdoc @igisci

Very excited to share this work identifying host factors crucial for type I-F CRISPR-associated transpose integration co-led by me and @Amanda_T_Alker. Much thanks to all the amazing co-authors, collaborators, and funders who made this project possible! @therubinlab @igisci
I'm excited to share the 1st preprint from @therubinlab, co-led by @LeoCTSong and I. We performed RB-TnSeq to identify host genes important for CRISPR-associated transposon (CAST) integration. The screen was leveraged to improve CAST editing in bacteria. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
This work would not have been possible without support from our institution @igisci @UCBerkeley and funders: m-CAFEs via @LBNLresearch @doescience @jbei @HelmsleyTrust, the Shurl and Kay Curci Foundation, and @TheAudaciousPrj philanthropies listed below
The manuscript is the result of a collaborative effort in a new lab. Thanks to all involved: Agnès Oromí-Bosch @swartz_sophi @JNVMartinson @arora_jigyasa @abbywangg @RachelRovinsky @CerebellumBlue @emilycpierce @DeutschbauerLab @doudna_lab @bradyfcress @thecresslab @EmeryRubin
