Good news: The Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act language is in the Senate Market Structure draft. This will protect open source devs from unfit licensure requirements. Getting it into the bills has been Coin Center's top priority in Congress.
Update in U.S. v. Storm from @davidzmorris. The update: today sucked and was boring.
Tornado Cash trial update with @davidzmorris. This morning's witnesses included Shakeed Ahmed, the Crema Finance and Nirvana exploiter. Other witnesses spoke for Eth.limo, Alchemy, and Github, all used by Peppersec Inc.
🚨JUST IN: Notice of appearance for Chainalysis counsel in US v. Storm

Update from U.S. v. Storm with @davidzmorris. Roman Storm's defense team has raised the spectre of a mistrial after an FBI tracing expert failed to confirm that the prosecution's first witness' stolen funds had in fact been sent to Tornado Cash.
Update: This morning at trial, defense counsel asked the government's forensic analysis witness whether prosecutors asked him to trace these funds. Answer: *No* So to recap, the government seemingly skipped diligence & put up a witness with no link to Tornado Cash at all?!
This would be such a stunning lack of diligence that I *want* to give prosecutors the benefit of the doubt. But @tayvano_ compellingly argues that their *opening witness* in Roman Storm's case didn't actually lose funds to Tornado Cash. Government needs to explain ASAP.
Finally got time to review the txns you shared and I agree. Idk how you mess up the tracing that bad as a firm to where you couldn’t properly follow instant exchange deposits 1 hop from a theft address and then follow subsequent txns down the wrong path to Tornado… It’s…
Two very reputable blockchain tracing experts now questioning the relevance of the government’s first witness in @rstormsf trial 👀

🚨UPDATE: The court is allowing the prosecution's expert witness to testify to the feasibility of implementing KYC/AML, despite the Government no longer charging Storm for AML/KYC violations.
The Government is trying to sneak in KYC testimony against Roman Storm – despite Judge Failla ruling that the terms KYC and AML had no place at his trial. Full story👇
Heading into court now for another day of coverage of US v. Storm for @theragetech . Stay tuned for twice daily updates.
