The biggest issue for reformed theology is this: 1. You can look at scripture through the lens of the covenants actually named in the bible. or 2. Through the lens of covenants nowhere named in the bible. Which makes more sense?
Moreover, in that day I will make Jerusalem a massive stone for all the people. All who try to lift it will be cut to pieces. Nevertheless, all the nations of the earth will be gathered together against her. (Zech. 12:3) Israel isn’t going anywhere.
Paul's teaching brought Jew and Gentile together within a Jewish sphere. If your interpretation of Paul doesn't do that (Reformed theology for example), you've completely misunderstood him.
A man of God is known by: What he flees from, What he follows after, What he fights for, What he is faithful to. -John MacArthur
Peter understood the message of the gospel as an urgent call to action and deeds, a return to the commandments of God. In a Jewish context, repentance calls for a return to the Torah. Repent, therefore, AND RETURN—so your sins might be blotted out (Acts 3:19)
When it came to Jews, what did Paul believe? Then what is the advantage of being Jewish? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? MUCH IN EVERY WAY. (Rom. 3:1-2) That isn't the statement of someone who thinks Torah is done away with.
The Keeper of Israel (Ps. 121:4). Every time I come across a title for God I type it in my notes. There are a lot of them. And to no one's surprise, they are all connected to Jacob's sons, the nation of Israel. My favorite is the God of the Hebrews and the glory of Israel.
What are your favorite books of the Bible to read? Mine are… Tanakh: Numbers, Ezekiel New Testament: Acts, Hebrews
I have thought the same thing. All of Paul's teaching comes from Torah. If you aren't following Torah at all, you aren't a believer. You have to follow it in some capacity. It is inescapable.
The only way not to be a Torah Keeper is to break absolutely everything in the Torah. Do people who say that realize that they themselves actually keep it to some extent?
A few celebrities have died lately. Today, Hulk Hogan passed on. It is a reminder that no matter how rich or powerful you become, you will stand before God and give account. We all will. On that day, your money nor influence will help you. All that matters is are you in Yeshua?
In inventing the covenant of works, covenant of redemption, and covenant of grace, Reformed theology puts itself in the unenviable position of having to argue that 100s and 100s of passages on the Biblical covenants are somehow insufficient to explain God’s plan of redemption.
Yeshua loved the Temple and will rebuild it one day as the covenants promise. youtube.com/shorts/FOS6Uf5…
One word of God can do more than ten thousand words of men, to relieve a distressed soul. —Puritan John Flavel, Works 4:424
Behold, the Keeper of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. (Psalm 121:4)
