Journalists play a crucial role in upholding our democracy, and the hardworking men and women of @SCNGguild are no exception. Hoping negotiations will promptly result in a fair contract that rewards their excellent reporting.
@SCNGguild members have been making it increasingly clear what will happen if we're not offered a fair contract. This isn't a cat and mouse game. It's about people's livelihoods and it should be treated with dignity. We look forward to negotiations this week.
Local reporters are essential to holding power to account and keeping residents informed. I'm proud to support SCNG Guild members who are on strike today, demanding a living wage and a reasonable workload from their greedy hedge fund owners. spectrumnews1.com/ca/la-west/bus…
🚨🚨🚨At the end of an all-day bargaining session yesterday, we told management they have a deadline of 12:01 am, Monday, Nov. 4, to bargain in good faith and present us with an acceptable proposal or we will begin our ULP strike.

Coming out from the shadows to ask you to support all of those who GRIND to get you great news for terrible pay! Many of them do it for the love of the game, but that don’t help pay rent 🫡

We stand with @SCNGguild in demanding Alden Global & MediaNews Group pay employees a livable wage to cover one of the nation's most expensive regions. Journalists shouldn't have to choose between affording rent, healthcare & groceries. #LocalNewsMatters scngguild.org/news/southern-…

Great story and photos by our @themindyschauer, who spent months following students at Sunburst Youth Academy as they attempted to turn around their lives. Take some time with this one from the @ocregister and @SoCalNewsGroup. You won’t regret it.

The Daily Pilot is a subsidiary of the L.A. Times, and faces an uncertain future in the face of upcoming layoffs. So today, we are joining our colleagues at the Times and walking out. ✊
Journalists like myself have gone more than 15 years without a raise!!!!
We, the members of SCNG Guild, have been bargaining for a fair contract for almost two years. Management has not been bargaining in good faith and has created delays over and over. First by challenging the results of our election in 2021 and now by disrespecting negotiations.
Please support the devoted and hard-working scng journalists… gofundme.com/f/support-soca…
@DrPatSoonShiong says his family is committed to the L.A. Times for the next 100 years. A new contract would help reinforce that commitment to our future — one that we and our families are proud to be part of.

While diving into the fentanyl crisis around MacArthur Park @_ClaraHarter and I found individuals trapped by addiction yet still with the desire to escape it. One man John told us "I want my vacation from life to be over."
I don’t know how much louder we have to scream before the rest of the country realizes how much trouble we’re in.
