I've been toying with this idea that the sad state of safety and maintenance of commercial vehicles in America an externality cost born by how the industry has solved the driver shortage. If you believe in free-market economics, what we can derive is that the public is willing…
I often wonder what that dude who crashed out on LinkedIn over ELP is thinking now that it demonstrably has had no impact on the market.

This week will mark one month of ELP OOS enforcement. I wanted to share the best analysis I've seen yet on the impact to the trucking industry.

The SMS data has been refreshed and we have a winner. I recorded guesses from approximately 50 FreightX folks and the average guess was 177 OSS violations on 6/25/2025 for ELP enforcement. From the SMS data, the actual figure was 51 OOS violations. That means @Thewastedyea…
Let's see how well the wisdom of crowds predicts the number of English language proficiency out-of-service violations on the first day of enforcement. Reply here with you guess for the number of OOS violations reported by the FMCSA for 6/25/2025. The data is delayed about…
Someone should create a betting market for the next conspiracy theory that whackos are going to adopt. I wouldn’t have personally had money on 5g towers causing weather modification and flash floods, but I’d love to bet on what’s next.
Given that Duffy's most relevant accomplishment in transportation was being a cast member on Road Rules, I think we should push for Willie Nelson to be his replacement. Why? Willie is the last surviving member of the country supergroup The Highwaymen. He also had a #1 hit song…
It’s a bad day to be an astronaut that doesn’t speak English…
Wishing something to be true and believing that it is true does not, in fact, make it true. Some folks out there in FreightX need to hear this and really let it sink in today.
Taking a look at some preliminary enforcement data on the ELP before we get a full look when the SMS data refreshes later this month. The date range I looked at was June 25th (start of OOS enforcement) through July 4th. There were a total of 1,542 violations with 372 of those…

My new guilty pleasure is watching YouTube videos of these sovereign citizen nutjobs trying to explain to law enforcement that they’re “traveling” and not driving which ultimately leads to their arrest.

Spot rates turned YoY negative in June. We're officially living in a "this is fine" meme. To quote Ray Arnold from Jurassic Park...Hold on to your butts.

Preliminary net motor carrier counts are in for June and the data is truly shocking. I'd argue this is one of the craziest charts that any of us have seen in a while. The market continues to hold on to capacity despite rates underperforming seasonality and huge questions on the…

I'm really starting to understand why @FreightAlley doesn't engage on LinkedIn...

Spot rates look to be starting their seasonal rally as we approach independence Day. The market is a bit behind where it was the last two years. If we don't see market strength hold beyond the 4th, I fear it's going to be an ugly second half of the year.
