@robinsongreig and I made an audio time capsules app. Record a voice memo and send it to your future self. Give it a try: talktyl.com No ads, no sneaky AI transcription. Just your voice, beamed magically into the future.
Such a kind compliment. Thank you!
Feel so blessed to have creations from my friend as an inspiration for my art space. The 4 corner posters are from @thefirejar's 100-day drawing project. It's a good reminder for me to keep creating and shipping! Thank you, Jeremy! Check them out 👉 thefirejar.com/store/
Had a fun, wide-ranging chat @moretothat about writing, illustration, parenting, philosophy, envy, self-reflection, physical intuition, and self-publishing. I thoroughly enjoyed his book, The Inner Compass. Highly recommended 📖 youtu.be/w1xSSRCXjjg

Science fiction places familiar topics in unfamiliar settings so that we see them from new perspectives. A deep-dive video essay: - What makes good television? - What can sci-fi teach us today? - How has BSG aged over time? #BattlestarGalactica thefirejar.com/battlestar-vid…

Most people don't really think about training their toes, ankles, or feet directly 🐾 I think these are important and underrated parts of the body, worthy of regular, specific training. What currently works for me : thefirejar.com/ankle-mobility…
Simple but profound.
Kant claimed that 3 questions drive critical thinking: - What can I know? - What should I do? - What may I hope? In today's post, we'll dive into each of these inquiries, and understand the power of asking them regularly: moretothat.com/the-three-foun…

Great science fiction places familiar topics into unfamiliar settings so that we see them from new perspectives. And uses this as a mirror to reflect our human shortcomings. Here's why I think an early-2000s TV space opera is more relevant today than ever. BSG mega-thread 👇
I used to be obsessed with the circus. Here's some old training footage from my peak acrobatics era (circa 2009-11). More if you're interested: thefirejar.com/circus-training
Most people bail on Succession because they think that it's a drama featuring unlikeable characters when it's actually a Shakespearean comedy / tragedy. x.com/thefirejar/sta…
@succession is a TV show about snarky, high-strung people whispering intensely into phones about business deals while in extravagant locations / on private jets ✈ The series works because: ▷The writing is smart and funny ▷The actors are all excellent (thread, spoilers)
Two things significantly impact quality of life: - Health - Relationships These topics are complex, universal, and widely relevant. They are hard to model and difficult to simplify. They involve behavior change, nuance, and adaptation. They are not easily solved via automation.

My favorite part of sending an occasional newsletter is getting reader replies. Part of a response I got to my last parenting post:

Hands are essential. I think it's worth training grip, wrists, fingers in specific, regular ways. Unless you're a surgeon, rock climber, musician, grappler, carpenter, magician etc, you may not think about training hands directly. Here's my approach 👋 youtu.be/OUCqWXfnPXQ
Thanks @EllenRhymes!
Just wanted to share this with you: one of the coolest things I own is this print of “daily drawings” by @thefirejar. I think it’s a lovely expression of the concept of putting in the reps. 💪 I hope to hang it on the wall of Altamira’s first real office, when we’ve earned it.
