My hunts this year have been awful. 45k for Staryu in 4 months. A quick Hitmonchan hunt inbetween and then I've gone over that for Venonat, with a Pidgey PHASE, in 4 months. Do hunts stay under 30k encounters?

This is one of the main reason I love watching Absol videos. The genuine excitement as he explores a new region and sees a pokemon completely new to him. It's made me look at the way I explore the games. I'll be trying hard to avoid the spoilers!
I'm stupid and get the biggest enjoyment out of media from experiencing it spoiler-free aside from what we learn officially beforehand. Maybe it's one of the reasons why I still have so much fun with these games. Please respect those of us like this & don't tag me in anything!
