andrewcareaga.com/2025/06/13/fri… @andrewcareaga interviewed me about Dad Lit, writing, and the pod. His questions were great and really captured what I am trying to do. Give it a read!

I like Gabino's always keep writing philosophy.
Did a podcast last night (more soon) and they asked me what I’d do if my agent hates my next novel. I ask myself that every time things gets dark or violent or weird as fuck. The answer is always the same: Write the next one. Then, write the next one.

In 1995, I wrote a whole one-that-got-away fanfiction in my head about the boy who reached across me for a Christopher Pike book in the YA section of Walden Books. Make young adult books for boys again. Fix the birth rate
Third bookstore of the day. I don't usually go for labeling but it is OBVIOUS traditional publishing needs a YOUNG MEN'S SECTION with totally new staff at every point in the pipeline. Young Adult just means girls now. I mean, look at these titles. Until fixed boys won't read.
Hot cover. Let us know when it is out.
I have a book cover!

Can’t afford a professional cover artist? Don’t settle for amateur scribbles. You don’t need an artist. Bold typographical covers can be much more effective at a fraction of the cost.
I know I am a little delayed with this weeks episode. In the process of the interview I got a bit of a Dad Lit scoop from horror podcast empresario, publisher, author and Dad MDW @ThisIsHorror
So, I left my agent. I am now debating whether to make my querying process part of The Dad Lit Pod. I'm not sure how interested the Dad Lit Community would be in that aspect of how the sausage is made. But if there is desire I can integrate it into the show.

a.co/d/dSJfi3s I find the work Voices of Protest more and more relevant. My suggestion for a good read about how economic insecurity and demagoguery can manifest into nebulous political movements. Probably going to bring it up with James Wade when I interview him in a…

Found out that Storyline Books outside of Columbus, OH chose my novel as their Lit Fiction book club book back in June! This is how indie book stores should support small press writers.
