Good and helpful essay. I especially enjoyed the audios on pronunciation differences.
Classical Latin did not die, and Ecclesiastical Latin is not a separate language.
Students whose primary interest lies in texts written in later periods... sometimes wonder if they should set out to learn ‘Ecclesiastical Latin’ instead, a term referring primarily to the Latin liturgical tradition of the aforementioned Church.
The poet Tyrtaeus gives us a tantalizing glimpse into a very old picture of what Sparta may have been like. Also, I love Gustave Moreau. This is his "Tyrtaeus singing during the fight"
