Hey all, I'm currently helping a young trans woman in Ontario Canada and was wondering if anyone knows of any youth services/crisis accommodation around there I haven't come across yet? Any help would be amazing π₯°
People have this unrealistic image of disabled people being surrounded by supportive family, doctors that take our conditions seriously, and tons of money from the govt. Yβall are gonna have a rude awakening when you become disabled. Most of us are barely surviving
The fact that the doordash disability debate happens like every 6 mos is exhausting. If you have never been abandoned by loved ones, medical instrastructure, and the govt, then youre not in a position to tell disabled people how to survive. 1/2
Gonna reiterate this point: unpack why you need to attack someoneβs mental capacity in order to insult them. Why do you need to call someone saneist terms, why does moral failure Have to be indicative of psychological disorders or mental disabilities for you?
Challenging ableist language is so important, but I want us to go beyond just replacing words. The most important thing is unpacking the ideology behind the words. Unpack why you feel like you need sanism/ableism. Especially for insults.
