Microsoft has spent over 100 BILLION dollars on AI investments. They’re cutting costs to keep pumping money into a dumpster fire
Very profitable is very questionable given they just axed 2000 people to try and help that equation. MS invests in almost no indie games now, and those suffer elsewhere. It's not a gateway to anything, paying $20 to Microsoft helps no other developer on the planet.

Detach Halo from Microsoft, and I guarantee within 5 years the franchise would flourish Microsoft have been a burden to Halo as far back as Halo 2 - Bungie had constant run ins with them that far back - and clearly they STILL, all these years later, do not understand games
