Sitting pretty. A Mallimack (Fulmar) in Sea Pinks (Thrift).

Memories of an incredibly emotional week, as a severely injured Wren successfully rears a family. 1/2
Today was a chance to walk the wild west Atlantic coast of Westray. When the waves roll in and crash it’s exhilarating.

The common names of House Sparrows are disappearing into antiquity. The familiarity of one of our constant companions since houses and agriculture were developed is fast disappearing and they are recognised by fewer and fewer people. To Orcadians they are still 'Sprogs'.
Tonight I will dream of Puffins, so small, and the Ocean, so immense.

Northern Gannet with a fish in its sights.
We had Beautiful Golden Y moths, Autographa pulchrina, in our traps. They look particularly amusing from the front with their large plumes.

Photograph taken last night at the Knowe o' Skea, one of my favourite places on Westray. It's sad that autocorrect changes Knowe o' Skea to Know of Ikea.

An Arctic Tern returning home to the colony with a fish.
